Getting your first pointe shoes with Broche Ballet Online
Broche Ballet is thrilled to offer the ability for adult dancers (ages 18+) to begin pointework from home with our online studio.
For most dancers, who purchase the Foot 360° Consultation, there are additional areas to work on before being ready for pointework.
When our next cohort opens up, you’ll be invited to apply to join! New cohorts open approximately twice per year.
In the exciting event that your body is ready, you can make an appointment with your local dance shop or online with The Pointe Shop! You’ll also receive resources about preparing for your first fitting, how to manage the flooring in your home, and what to expect.
Broche Ballet’s Requirements for First Pair of Pointe Shoes
Safety is the top priority! We're talking about standing on our toes! Granted, the shoes do help support us, but, these are tiny little muscles and tendons and bones, and we want to be careful. Having said all that, pointe is amazing and magical, and not necessarily dangerous if we play our cards right!
You’ve been taking 1 year of 1-2x per week of ballet classes without any breaks longer than 1 month.
You have (or are willing to sign up for upon acceptance) a membership to Broche Online that includes Live Classes so that you can join for at least 4 live pointe classes for feedback before practicing on your own.
Strength & mobility requirements include adequate range in the front of the ankle, alignment of the ankle over the 2nd toe joint when pointing or on rélevé, being able to sustain a full rélevé height, turnout & core strength, and being able to execute rélevé without the barre.
What if pointe isn’t my goal?
You can definitely still purchase the feedback product and submit your video! You’ll receive all kinds of tips, stretches, and exercises to improve your arches, pointed foot, and rélevé height.
Foot 360° Consultation FAQ’s
+ Is there a time limit to submit your video?
We ask that you upload your video and complete your questionnaire within 3 months of purchase. If you feel that you need more time, please do reach out to let us know so we can plan when to receive your video.
+ Can I request a refund?
A full refund is available within 30 days of purchase if haven’t submitted video yet. If you have submitted your video and you are not satisfied with the level of feedback received, please request a refund within 5 business days of receiving your feedback. We are happy to offer a 50% refund.
+ Do I have to be a good dancer to submit a video?
Nope! Even if you’ve just started dancing, practice with the video until you’ve got the moves down, and send it in!
+ Do I need to film it well?
We’ll comment on as much as we can see in the video. The follow-along video will help instruct you as to the camera angles to film the video. Do your best to have as much of your body in frame as possible, but we understand that you're a dancer, not a videographer!
+ What should I wear?
Tight-fitting clothing will show the most of your technique. Shorts/leggings are preferable over ballet skirts. Lighter-colored leggings and tights are best. The Foot 360° Consultation is entirely barefoot.
