Four Little Swans Variation

We’ve taken this fun popular little variation and modified it for home dancing with small spaces and hard floors. This version of the variation stays in one place, so even if you only have room to stand, you can still dance with us! After learning the dance, send us a video of you dancing the choreography to be in a worldwide pas de quatre.

Pas de Quatre translates to “Step for Four”

Some of us learn better from seeing choreography written out. That’s why we have created a 15-page downloadable PDF with every count, step, and head motion written out in detail. Includes:

  • Where to look, which foot to step on, and how to Swan-in-Place!

  • Higher-level overview of the patterns to help you remember the choreography

  • Specific movements and broken-down steps

  • Counts for each step and head movement

By downloading the PDF, you agree to receive updates about online classes and offerings from Broche Ballet. We don’t spam or sell your information, and you can unsubscribe anytime!

Julie, I’ve been looking for a beginners tutorial for this piece for soo long, and yours is the only one I can begin to attempt! It’s explained so well and the final result still looks satisfyingly close to the original. Thanks so much!

Afterwards, send us your video to be in a pas de quatre!

WORLDWIDE PAS DE QUATRE SUBMISSIONS CLOSED! But, you can still participate in a pas de quatre with yourself!

Take a video of yourself dancing, and we’ll edit your video together with 3 other vidoes of yourself to make your very own pas de quatre!

Instructions for video:

Video layout — Vertical, such as from a cell phone. Try to stand as close as possible to the camera while still capturing your whole body.

Video frame — Since the variation stays all in once place, you should be able to set your camera on a tripod or other non-moving object. You can choose from one of two views:

  1. Just the feet up to just above the knee

  2. OR full body
