Learn the Giselle’s Friends Variation from Giselle

Giselle is one of the most popular ballets in history. First performed at the Paris Opera in 1841, Giselle is still considered a masterwork in the classical ballet repertoire. If you enjoyed learning our version of the famous Giselle Variation from Act 1, we have another surprise for you! This time we will be taking you through another fun variation from Giselle: the Giselle’s Friends dance, a segment from the corps de ballet!

Learn the Steps!

We have created a beginner friendly version of the Giselle’s Friends variation with a follow-along video to help you successfully learn the steps! We have also included two separate videos highlighting two ballet steps that are included in this variation for you to learn and review. Here at Broche Ballet, we believe that anyone and everyone can dance, especially grownups! That’s why we love to help break down fun, classic ballet variations, so that anyone who wishes to learn them can!

Mastering Pas de Basque

The Pas de Basque is a fun ballet step that is common in many character dances and various ballets. It is often used to help travel across the stage, as well as add a whimsical element to a combination or variation! In this Giselle’s Friends variation, the pas de basque comes up several times, so let’s take a few minutes to learn or go over it!

Balancé

Balancé is a beautiful, basic ballet step that is used in many ballet combinations and variations. Unlike the traditional 8 count tempo, this step is danced to a 1,2,3 tempo.  There are multiple different versions of balancé and directions in which they can be done. In this Giselle’s Friends variation,  balancés appear multiple, so let’s take a few minutes to learn or go over it!
